THIS IS AWESOME!

I would really love to feature it on my website.

Go for it.. Let me know when it's up

V Good background music

Rhythm, symths, beat+ all good. But I can't hear the bass! Where is it??

Of course I can hear it, but giving him a bit more balls wouldn't harm anyone :=)

grooveT3K responds:

Thanks for the feed back mate,
I agree more bass usually = GOOD
I will pay more attention to the bass on my next track a little more closely.

Cheers!

funny :)

I like the way you arrange drums and percussions, and the way you work with all instruments. Basically, we can hear each instrument perfectly. There is a place for all of them in your song.

It sounds funny and comical IMO, was that the point of the track?

grooveT3K responds:

You hit the nail on the head mate!
This track is suppose to have a comical appeal to it, and im glad you found that to be the case.
Thanks for the comment mate and im glad you enjoyed it on some level!

A nice loop

Here you made a simple but well made ambient loop.

The track is 49 sec long. IMO too short, that's why I give you only 8/10, but those seconds are properly done, rich and the sounds are interesting.

We can hear 2 echoed clean guitar riffs as the main instrument here which gives us the rhythm and the note. With reversed sounds and percussion the drums start with a jazz feel, then follow one by one quickly picking up the tempo.

Nice one and simple
3/5

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks for the good review. Need more like this.

I had always intended on making a full song out of this. I have the files somewhere. I'll find them again and probably finish it at some point. Sorry for the short length.

Jazz has always been a strong influence.

thanks, man.

Pretty decent

At the beginning there is this kind of monotonical drum, which makes this great track not very a good welcome sound. But later when the trombones, brass and some violin in the background come in, and the the way you composed it makes this song a nice, fantasy theme.

Lots of reverbs and delays. Good software instruments too.

I like it

F4LL0UT responds:

Huh, personally I actually considered the beginning to be quite fitting. I like the "monotonical" sound because in my mind it reflects primitive steam-powered machines pretty well and I think the way the track begins is intriguing - I thought it's the right way to introduce a new level or part of a level, you know: the previous song stops and this one begins with weird sounds that do not really resemble music and the player has to notice the massive change in the atmosphere. But yeah, musically it's not the best intro, so I still agree with you.

Anyhow, thanks for the review and the positive comment on the rest of the track.

very good

Awesome, I like it very much. Atmospheric and to be honest, works great when having sex ;) So it's a good background music for a menu theme or for a location in some sci-fi/fantasy game.

It fits with te description you made.

Which software are you using?

Would be cool if you review one of my songs.

F4LL0UT responds:

Hm... "works great when having sex"... I'm having an idea here how to make money. Thanks, bro (and for your own sake, I hope you were playing it in a loop - it's not the longest piece you know ;P). Btw I'm very glad you like it and that you think it fits the description.

For the tools: As a DAW I'm using Cubase 5. The sounds come from several plugins by East West, Spectrasonics and Musiclab - most notably Goliath for the atmospheric sounds and RealStrat for the electric guitar.

And yeah, I'm gonna check out your music and write some reviews. :)

It's alright

Could have been better, more industrial rhythms less techno/trance synths.

More atmophere would help too and smoother melody.

PuffballsUnited responds:

More atmosphere? I thought all the mechanical noises were enough atmosphere, along with the wind and whistles.

hmmm.

I wanted to give you 10, when I've heard the start of it.

The violin synth is the best, but it my go a bit longer- maybe a reverb would work here?

The drummy part is funny :) No, it's probably good for a Game Boy game or something like Pokemon :) But not in my favourites :P

I think it's pretty good though. Only ends up, like it's unfinished.

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Lol, that's cool.

I'm pretty sure I'll redo this, because some parts don't sit too well with me.

When you say it sounds unfinished, do you mean the end sounds unfinished?

I need to know for when I work on it lol.

And I'll try my best to work on it. I've learned some new things so it should sound much better next time :D.

Thanks for the review!

nice

I like the sound which comes in on 00:41, and also the synthesized guitar :)

In this track you went with more instruments, sometimes like "randomly" made- it's cool.

You've made a structure of the song, which works fine.

carry on :)

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Ha, thanks so much for the compliments!

It's funny, I'm getting better reviews for my experiments than the ones I actually worked on! lol

OK, maybe not THAT funny. :D

good

Try to make instruments more "realistic". Like the bass sound- is too "artificial". Depends what program are you using, try to make loops more randomly made, composed or some of the lines make a little bit longer. I really don't know how to explain it :)

Synths as well- hold them a bit longe, so they will sound very clean and "real". For them, you can use reverbes and a very silent delays.

At the beginning, there is a stop, a gap, which is fine, but too long.

Carry on!

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Ok, I'll work on the synth thing, as complicated as you made it seem XD.

No worries, I have all the time in the world!

Thanks a lot!
